Energy efficient lighting makes a difference

Saving the earth and saving money...

In June 2011, Angels of Hope Thrift Store was the fortunate recipient of the efforts of many people. Energy efficient lighting and fixtures upgrades were installed as part of a collaborative program called The Non-Profit Lighting Project.

Grant assistance from The Mel and Grace McLean Foundation was combined with PG&E Foundation contributions, through the efforts of the Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) and the Redwood Coast Energy Watch (RCEW).

At no out-of-pocket cost to YouthAbility, our thrift store now uses less energy. Our yearly carbon footprint is reduced by an estimated 3,082 lbs. of CO2!

In addition, YouthAbility is saving over $1,000. a year in electricity cost.

This was a smooth, efficient and seamless transition for the staff and customers of Angels of Hope. Clear and easily understandable paperwork was provided by the folks at RCEA and RCEW.

Many thanks to...

Funding, implementation and installation was handled by them. All we had to do was make room for Ian Mion, owner/operator of Living Light Electric, to set up his ladder, and he completed the job quickly, safely and well.

We encourage all north coast non-profits who are eligible to take advantage of this wonderful program.
